SRS - Spaced Repetition Systems

Hey all, not everyone always understands what SRS is when they get started on Pandanese, so I thought I would create a topic for it.

I wrote a blog post that goes into detail here: https://pandanese4thewin.wordpress.com/2018/06/06/srs-spaced-repetition-systems-how-it-works-and-why-it-is-effective/

But feel free to talk about SRS and your experiences with it as well. Always good to hear when it is working – it has been for me (with both Chinese & Japanese).

Here’s what I observed today, and it blew my mind:
June 16, 2018 - I just did an interesting little test: I went on my Vocabulary Lattice with “combined” chosen - For now, my cards are all dark green, with about 16 of them in light green (https://www.pandanese.com/lattice/vocabulary). I then started reading on-screen the unlocked (dark grey) cards to see whether I could “get” their pronunciation: I can report that I was able to read all of them, without having studied them before. Their meaning, however, was often tentative or not clear (of course, I haven’t studied these yet), and I refrained from guessing because I know it can mess up your retention score later on… However, I can attest to the fact that before I started Pandanese, THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOGNIZE/READ ALOUD ALL THESE VOCABULARY CARDS (emphasis intentional). So the method is astonishingly efficient. I thought I’d share that with you before I forget it because I think this observation is crucial in demonstrating how valid the Pandanese method/engine is… My five cents… and kudos to our amazing developers! :heart_eyes_cat:
